@Bobbyboy Yeah, it's definitely hundreds of takes per track, maybe over a thousand. I should really have things better organized. But I doubt there's anything I was able to finish with fewer than 500 gens.
@Bobbyboy Thanks! I would recommend feeding the full and complete song into Udio. It's still going to be a whole lot of trial and error to find a take that matches the melody and harmonies exactly, but it has more information to go off of. And it generally works better if you replace an entire section of the song at a time, like do one whole chorus or one whole verse with new lyrics (keep the rest of the lyrics the same if that's shorter than the 32 seconds it'll give you). Generate a bunch of takes of that section. You may have to stitch together multiple takes for the same section, if one line is closer in one take, another is closer in a different one.
That's the primary reason I use Mixed In Key Mashup is every one of these is many, many layers. It's the original song, an instrumental version of the original song, and then dozens of different takes. I find having it all automatically beatmatched makes it easy to line up and fade in and out of the different versions (with the instrumental usally coming in to back up the AI-gen replacements to fill it out/make it sound more authentic).

@Pornleth Interesting! I just tried redoing some parts with the full track instead of an acapella... the results were not good. Like, missing out beats mid bar. But maybe you get better vocal takes this way, eventually, and then the tradeoff is having to spend more time editing to get the finished full track good, whereas with an acapella I can just import whole audio files (as udio gives me the whole song every time anyway) and everything lines up, then I slice vocal tracks and keep the parts from each I like most, then I can just whack the instrumental track in, I don't have to vary the volume of anything.
I think I see what you mean, though. Instead of only doing little bits at a time, to try to get "good" takes, just doing whole chunks at a time is producing some pretty "bad" takes but I think given enough attempts there'd be enough "good" parts to edit into one perfect take. How many takes must you have gone through to do multiple full tracks!

@Pornleth You're an inspiration, ever since I randomly found "Meet God" on eporner ages back. Recently found these Slut Mixes and it's blown my mind. I wanted to give it a go myself (despite never making a pmv, but that's fun to try, too!)
I uploaded an acapella to Udio, edited lyrics and regenerated until I had enough passable "songs" to cut together a single continuos take (in Audacity) and can add the instrumental track in too. But, any part where more than a word or two in a line have been inpainted, I've lost the original melody, it's similar but the pitches are altered. Also, any bits inpainted where the original had backing/harmonies, they've been lost. But, when I listen to Espresso (i.e. first verse, 3rd line; "taste you") you still have them in! Is that where using Mashup Mixed In Key fixes these issues? Are you creating a "mashup" of the original acapella and your edited lyrics version, bosh and done, or is this a whole complex series of steps after the Udio work? I haven't bought Mixed in Key yet; all the tutorials I looked at seem to be about matching beats and such, nothing about lyrics, so I'm a bit confused.
Could you please talk to this stage of the process in a little more detail, please?

@lucifer616 I've explained portions of the workflow a few times different places, but going to write out the very, very long version here so I can just point to it in the future:
The site Udio has a feature that lets you trim an existing song and generate a new section of it. So I do that with new lyrics (sometimes you have to get clever to get around the moderation). I generate each snippet a bunch of times so I can find the version that's the closest match to the original but has the new lyrics properly. Once I have all the snippets I need, I stitch them together with the original track (and usually an instrumental version too) using a piece of software called Mixed in Key Mashup, basically lining up and crossfading between like 10-20 different individual tracks for the different pieces of the song until I have the whole thing start to finish.
In this case I also used a different AI site, ElevenLabs, for the speaking voice portions. I edited down an 30m interview so it was just her speaking to get the audio train the model, and then I did a mix of writing out lines with the text to speech feature and feeding it edited snippets of a JOI audio from the r/gonewildaudio subreddit with the speech to speech feature to get the right level of emotion into the performance (and get around the moderation, which is super strict for text-to-speech).
It's obviously a shitload of work, and the AI is just a tool that you really have to use in a specific way to get the results you want, but I definitely think anyone could do it with a lot of patience. I'd love to see other people give it a shot—I think it really adds to a PMV.
To answer your next question, no, I am not on the autism spectrum.
